Plays & Sketches
Two of my biggest passions are writing and theatre. As a playwright, I have been able to merge these to passions into some fun, ridiculous and absurd comedy pieces. Here are just a few of my produced works:
Harry Squatter and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
As a child who grew up in the 90s, I’m required by law to love the Harry Potter series. So writing and directing a parody play about my favorite magical trio was everything 10-year-old me could hope for. The story followed Harry, Ron and Hermoine on their first days at Porklumps College of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Produced by Mosley Street Melodrama in Wichita, Kansas, this show won six Mary Jane Teall awards.
Horse Bed
Inspired by the film “The Revenant,” my friends and I decided to bring a horse bed to life. In a matter of a week I wrote the script, we built a life-size horse (sans head), made a short film and created a mini media campaign in time for the night of the Oscars. Oddly enough, there were no horse bed orders after the big win.
My Big Rad 80s Wedding
My friend, Molly, and I had been actors at Mosley Street Melodrama for a couple of years. We decided to team up to scratch another itch of creativity. What emerged was a show we wrote and directed about the 80s, the wedding of a plumber and the heiress to a jazzercise fortune, a mysterious hickey and a very intricate flashback sequence. Produced by Mosley Street Melodrama in Wichita, Kansas, this show won multiple Mary Jane Teall awards.
